Counsellor Directory

This innovative membership service serves to promote business information about your counselling practice, specialized services and skills as well as the ability to upload a profile picture and business logo. With futurist trends heading towards a generation that seeks information online as well as a specific set of skills, knowledge and experience, the CPCA believes this directory will provide a competitive edge for marketing our member's counselling services across Canada to the public, insurance providers, EAP contractors and government for verification of your legitimacy. All members who are in "good standing" will be approved to list their contact information in the directory on an annual basis. It allows our members to login to their directory listing once it has been approved and make any changes to their contact information.

Description

I am a registered professional counsellor and a member of The Canadian College of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists (CCPCP) with over 27 years of experience in family work.

I am an affiliated counsellor with PPCCanada (Interlock). As well I am registered with the Crime Victim Assistance Program, Ministry of Attorney General.

My counselling philosophy is to engage people in therapeutic conversations.

I believe everyone is capable of making changes and what people need is a safe place to explore their needs and find their own solution.

As a counsellor I may give you suggestions not advice and may ask questions to help you discover your alternatives.

Counselling is the means to allow people to express what is important to them and to gain insight and strength.

Counselling is a confidential means; it is also a technique that inspires trust and shows respect for the differences people may have. It also accepts people as who they are.

Counselling successfully is to provide non-judgmental and empathic conversations. It is a relational process where I guide the therapeutic discussion and you benefit from being heard. Only you decide and know what is important to discuss.

This process allows you to reflect and become empowered.

My goal is to help people become motivated to improve their lives, to dialogue about their concerns and to become curious about what is possible for them.

My techniques are therapeutic conversations and approaches, which are client-center such as solution focus therapy, narrative approach, cognitive and behavioural therapy, family system therapy, motivational interviewing, visualization, affirmations, and imaginary techniques.
